Clan Wulfgard July 2005 Althing held at the Shire of
Sylvan Glen's Defender's Tourney.
Following is a summary of that meeting.

Otto the Confused
The meeting was called to Order at 10:10 pm by the AmBladíer, Lord Thorgard.
Laird Wulfric offered greetings to those present with special greetings going to Baron Artur Maclochlainn
and his companion, Lucien ??????, and then offered his thanks for all the help those present had given to
making the day’s event a success. “It’s a thankless job that’s not so thankless now.”
Otto the Confused was called before the Chief to receive his long awaited membership card dated AS 24,
but wait, there’s more. “Now that you're a card carrying member of Clan Wulfgard, you need a card to
carry. This card has been laminated for your protection.” Laird Wulfric then praised Otto for doing
a wonderful job of protecting his Chief from the Japanese (Otto is stationed in Japan with the Air
Force in his mundane life.) Otto was presented with his official Clan Wulfgard Go Comon business cards and
dismissed from the Chiefly presence.
Grimolfr Ormalfrson was then called before his chief to receive Take 2 of his Wolf’s Tail scroll (originally presented at the 12th Night 2005 Althing) with the gender correction promised the Chieftess.
Laird Wulfric followed this with a discussion of the role of the Go Comon as the personal and ceremonial
body guard of the Chief himself. Otto the Confused was once again called to present himself to his Chief to
take the oath of office for Go Comon.
The Oath of Gó ComonKnow that we, Laird Wulfric Grimbeald and Lady Theodora Quennell, High Chief and High Chieftess of Clan Wulfgard, have need of a Gó Comon to help protect and secure the Chief and Chieftess of Clan Wulfgard. Know also that receiving good report of our faithful servant Otto the Confused as a Clan Member skilled in and dedicated to safety and personal strength, we are
minded to name Otto the Confused as our Gó Comon.
Otto the Confused, present yourself before Us!
Place your hand upon the sword.
Do you Otto the Confused, of your own free will, desire to serve Clan Wulfgard as its Gó Comon, to
pursue learning, deal courteously with those of every degree, teach and protect to the best of your ability all placed under your care, in all manner of things pertaining to the office?
Otto the Confused responds - I so desire.
Do you, of your own free will, promise that you will be true and honest with all your dealing both within and as a representative of Clan Wulfgard, and to them that name you their Gó Comon, ever mindful that the harmony of Clan Wulfgard springs from your own deeds?
Otto the Confused responds - I so promise.
Also do you promise to keep the secrets of Clan Wulfgard and her members, to not discover or betray them except as necessary to abate harm or treason?
Otto the Confused responds - I so promise.
We, Laird Wulfric Grimbeald and Lady Theodora Quennell, High Chief and High Chieftess of Clan Wulfgard, accept your promise as freely given, and do likewise make a promise unto you, rewarding your trust in us with service with honor, your courage with our protection, and any transgression made against you with justice. Should you fail in your service to us, we swear to render unto you the mercy due all members of Clan Wulfgard, so long as we remain High Chief and High Chieftess.

Come and be honored by your clan.
Once read into the minutes of the meeting, the Oath
was signed by Laird Wulfric, Lady Theodora, and Otto
the Confused.The Am Bladíer then called for three cheers for the Go Comon, which included a “full contact “Vivat!” to the back of the Chief’s head from the Am Bladier’s book. Apparently, Thorgard was very excited to see this Oath taken. The Am Bladíer then called for a second attempt at the three cheers, which went off this time without any full contact involved.
There was then a brief interlude filled with quiet conversation as we awaited the arrival of close Clan friend Lord Cynwrig Wyn who was present to perform a very special duty for Clan Wulfgard.
Clan Wulfgard was privileged to have two very special friends at this Althing. These friends were first met two years ago at Defender’s Tourney. Laird Wulfric called forth Baron Artur Maclochlainn and his companion Lucien to make an alliance between Clan Wulfgard and Clan Lachlan with an accord whose text follows:
It is the natural order of friendship that a relationship grow and take on new depths and meaning,
and so it is even now. Let it be known to the Society for Creative Anachronism, to everyone whom it may concern, and to all whom it may in any manner belong, that Baron Artur Maclochlainn, High Chief of Clann Lochlan, and Laird Wulfric Grimbeald, High Chief of Clan Wulfgard, being resolved to unite the efforts of their respective households toward collective defense and the preservation of peace and security between them, hereby agree to join in Alliance with these Accords Of Protectorate.
The Parties of this Accord affirm their truth in the purposes and principles of:
1) A common desire to preserve peace and prosperity between the two households,
2) An honorable aspiration to safeguard the freedom and individual identity and promote the stability and well-being of each clan's members,
3) A sincere willingness to promote just and honorable relations between their members,
4) A respectful intention to consult together whenever, in the opinion of any of them, the
territorial integrity, political independence or security of any member is threatened, and
5) A strong determination that an attack against one member of either house shall be considered to be an attack against all members of both houses. It is also agreed that, should such an attack occur, each household will assist the other through any action, including the use of armed force, that is deemed necessary to restore and maintain the security and peace of their members. Exceptions will be made in the instance that all are in agreement with regard to mercenary hire or force division for the improvement of a fighting or other competition opportunity, and all involved will compete honorably and to the full measure of their ability for the enjoyment and education of all.

This accord was signed by our Chief with Lord Cynwrig serving as his witness and Baron Artur signed as High Chief of Clan Lachlan with Lucien serving as his witness.
Baron Artur then offered the hospitality of his household with this: “For any event that Wulfgard
attends in southern Atlantia, they will have a home with the crossed axes. Laird Wulfric extended the same hospitality to any members of Clan Lachlan who travel through our lands.
Clan Lachlainn, being a true Irish clan, then presented Laird Wulfric cattle as their alliance gift
(two wooden painted cattle).
Laird Wulfric then presented the traditional Wulfgard alliance gift of a sounding horn so that Clan
Lachlainn would know they may call upon Clan Wulfgard. He followed this with several cattle (beanie baby style) representing Friendship, Honor, Strength, and Wealth and then added a sheep representing Love.
Lord Cynwrig asked to address the gathering and expressed his thanks to Clan Wulfgard for all its hard work on this event. Lady Theodora responded that Wulfgard is happy to lend a hand because Cynwrig has always been there to help Clan Wulfgard.
Laird Wulfric ended the meeting with a reminder that Pennsic approaches and the admonition “Get your butts in gear!”
The meeting was adjourned by the Am Bladíer at 10:31 pm with a comment from Baron Artur that went something like this: “Damn, you people know how to conduct business.”
